Hello Room 108 Families!
I hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful long weekend! We have many exciting things coming up this week! In class, we will continue to look at informational animal pieces and learning how to find the important information from an article and write a paragraph on it. Students are learning how to use a graphic organizer to organize the details they find in the article and write it out. We are also working on citing the text evidence that we pull from the article! In math, we are moving on with addition and subtraction. We will begin focusing on 2 digit adding and subtracting and the different strategies that we can use. In social studies we will be looking at how maps work, and how to create our own map and map key! This week is also the book fair, lunch with a loved one and the PJ poetry slam! On Wednesday, November 15, the book fair will be open from 8am - 8pm. Lunch with a loved one will be available for the kindergarteners and the PJ poetry slam will be from 6:00-7:00pm. On Thursday, we have our lunch with a loved one! It is for the 1st - 5th graders. You may also visit the book fair at this time! Then the following week is conferences and there is no school for the students. I hope that you have had a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow!! Hello Room 108 Families! I hope you have enjoyed your weekend and the extra hour of sleep! Last week was exciting with Halloween and Red Ribbon week! Please check out our website blog to see some of the photos from these celebrations! This week will be back to an almost normal week! We are studying character traits and how we describe characters in a book. In writing, we are looking at how you take important information from an article and write a summary about it. We are learning how different graphic organizers can help plan out what we want to write about. In math, we will be reviewing all of our addition and subtraction strategies getting ready to start to two digit adding and subtracting along with regrouping. In science, we are ending looking at properties of liquids and looking at the effects of how liquids and solids work together. I can't believe how fast time is going! It is almost time for conferences. Please make sure that you have signed up for a conference. Also, please remember there is no school Friday because of Veterans day!
