Hi Room 115 Families!
I hope that you had a great weekend! I am so excited to have a full week back with your students. Last week, we completed our Ice Cream Scoop Project and will be moving on to making equations within 10! In literacy, we have continued to work on letters, writing sentences, our research pond guides and more! The optional ALO classes have begun, and the schedule and links are below! For those of you who do not know what ALO is, it is our Advanced Learning Opportunity for students to work with the teachers Mrs. Ozawa or Mrs. Larsen on teaching students how to expand their thinking, learn critical thinking skills and strategies and work on different projects. This is usually held in person for the students, but due to this year's schedule students have the opportunity to give it a try through zoom. Again, this is optional and if it is something you and your student are interested in please log on to Zoom for the AM bunch: Tuesdays 1-1:30pm, PM bunch: Thursdays 8:55 - 9:25am. Again, this is optional if you would like to give it a try! Important Information: 1. ALO: AM session schedule | PM session schedule ---- Please email me to access the Zoom links & schedule 2. October Books from Scholastic are available to online purchase now. Please click this link: CLICK HERE to order books our class code is QC42X. NOTE: Please have your books sent to your home. The orders you place will come to me to submit, but Braeside is asking for you when you place your order to choose to send to my home option so they will come straight to you instead of school! Hi Room 115 Families!
I hope that you have enjoyed another long weekend! We had a great week last week and I am looking forward to seeing and learning with your students this week! Last week, we practiced two more letters Aa and Ss. We also wrote the next two pages in our Pond Resources guide. In math, we continued looking at different ways to make patterns and combinations in our ice cream book along with different math games. We also worked on a new sort that allowed your students to learn the different attributes of shapes and find different ways to organize them. This week, we are going to begin working on our community project! your students will choose a community worker that they are interested in learning more and creating a community workplace and more. If you have not sent in your empty tissue box just yet, please try to send one in this week! We will continue to work on letters, our Pond Resource book and finalize our math ice cream pattern book! Important Information 1. Look for a Scholastic Email from me soon to order books for the month of October 2. Back to a regular week next week 3. Please send in an empty tissue box if you have not already, thank you! Have a wonderful week and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! Good Morning Room 115 Families!
I hope that you are enjoying your long weekend and have a wonderful Monday! This is our second short week, and we have been packing in lots of learning last week and we will do it again this week! In literacy, we have started working on the big blue book in person. This is our phonemic awareness curriculum and I am so excited to see that the practice of it from home has really helped prepare them for doing it in class! Thank you for your help in making that happen! We also focused on the letters Mm and Tt. This week we will add two more letters and start making two to three letter words on our own. After all your pond research, we have started our first writing project and created our own Pond Resource Guide. Your students are learning about how to create a sentence with a capital letter and that punctuation comes at the end of a sentence. We will continue to write more this week and learn about what it means to be an author. In math, we are working on patterns and combinations. Your students have created some lego and bead patterns to get comfortable with the repetition and finding different combinations. This week we will begin our ice cream project where your students will be challenged to create as many different combinations of two scoop cones with certain numbers of flavors! This week we will also begin our big community project! As we continue to get to know our classmates, families and the places that make up our community we will each be choosing a community worker to research and create a hands on project about them. To make this project successful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could send your student in with an empty tissue box this week to assist in creating part of this project! Important Information 1. No school October 12th 2. Please send in an empty tissue box this week 3. Updated photos in the AM and PM albums (link found in my signature below) |
