Hi Room 115 Families!
It was so great seeing everyone over Zoom today! I am sorry for any tech issues that occurred. I know we are going to have to play around with this and smooth out all the bumps! I think the best way to make it work is for me to add the Zoom Link on Clever five minutes before the Zoom meeting so that everyone can access it. I will continue to work on it and see what else I can do in hopes of making it as easy as possible. I truly miss all your students and was so happy to hear that everyone is good and to see their faces! As the district sends out the curriculum lessons, I am going to continue to provide you with supplemental resources to use with your students. These will be extensions of what they are learning in the provided lessons as well as building off lessons that we had started in class. The first thing that I will be sharing with you is Heggerty. Heggerty teaches students all about phonemic awareness through "word games". Your students are very comfortable with this because we practice it everyday in class where it is known as "the big blue book". I will add a Heggerty video every other day on SeeSaw for your students to practice. Below is further information for you to learn about the program, phonemic awareness and some lessons for you to have as well! Video for Parents: What is Heggerty Phonemic Awareness? Sample Video Lesson (for parents) 3 Week Daily Lessons (printables for parents) My hope is to do another Zoom with your students on Friday or share a story with them through SeeSaw! Either way, you will be hearing more from me later this week and the plans and preparation of what learning will be like for your students next week. Keep playing, creating, building, and reading! As always, feel free to reach out if you need anything or have any questions!

Hi Room 115 Families!
I hope that you are all doing well, you are healthy and that you had a good spring break! This is a crazy time for all of us and there is a lot that we will learn together to figure out how to make this new normal work for the time being! Some questions that I would like to help clarify for you that people have been asking: First, e-Learning is currently available. For kindergarten, math and literacy e-Learning is through Imagine Learning. These apps are available through Clever on your child's school ipad. They are new for your child and me, so we will be learning together! Please read here and email if you need help. Remote Learning is different than the e-Learning mentioned above. All D112 teachers will be trained in tools to support Remote Learning. Until Remote Learning is up and running, I will be sharing some optional supplemental resources. I will email and post items in Seesaw. During this time, in order to organize materials, directions and communication I have created a Room 115 Resource guide. This is a google doc that will provide you all the supplemental resources, directions, passwords, and activity ideas for your students. This is open to you at any time and will be found at the bottom of my email signature from now on along with on the front of our class website (which you also have access to from the bottom of my email signature at Room 115 Blog). My hope is to keep this email relatively short so that you can go through the resource guide and reach out to ask any questions! Click here for Room 115 Resources. TOMORROW! We will have our very first Class zoom at 10am! Attached to the bottom and found in the Room 115 Resources are the directions to Zoom. I expect bumps along the way with figuring this out but this will be a great way to check in altogether. I miss all of your students very much and look forward to chatting with them and seeing their faces! The only thing I ask of you today is to help your students download the app. Stay well and please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything! Looking forward to seeing all of your students tomorrow! Hi Room 115 Families!
I hope you and your families are doing well today! I am not sure if you saw my first video posted to SeeSaw, but I am starting to share messages and videos through it. My first message was to say hello to all of the students and I am also sharing a read aloud through SeeSaw now! It is weird to be hearing my own voice through the recordings and trying to make sure everything sounds right. I hope that it all works and sounds fine on your end. If for some reason you do not have the SeeSaw app downloaded or you have misplaced a login code to access it please let me know and I can share out our class code! Remember, tomorrow night begins conferences. If the number you have shared on PCFast is not the number you would like me to reach you at please email me back and let me know how to get in touch with you. Again, I will be calling from a blocked number so look out for that at the time of your conference. I am thinking of all of you and wishing you well. Say hello to all of your students for me! I miss them! Hello Kindergarten Parents,
We hope that you and your family are well and enjoying your time together. We understand you have received some learning resources from the district and will pick up your child’s iPad from Braeside. Likely you have seen and shared many ideas from friends and/or social media too. We would like to share some optional supplemental resources specific to your child’s learning experience thus far in kindergarten. Linked to this email are tools and applications that your students are comfortable using. At this time, please do not let your child post new items to Seesaw. We will let you know if there is a time for this. You may choose to have your child watch videos previously shared. The resources below are provided as an opportunity not a requirement. Please remember your child is used to playing inside and outside every day, in addition to Physical Education, Music, and Art. Continuing self-directed play at home is developmentally appropriate and incredibly beneficial for your child. Typically we start the week with a new Mystery Doug video, here is this week’s question: How is a rainbow made? We look forward to calling you at your child’s scheduled conference time. We will use the phone number you listed in PCFast as your contact. Please note this is a time to discuss your child’s progress this year, we will not be discussing future e-learning plans. Please know that we miss learning with your students and our classroom community. Please take care of yourselves and your family, stay healthy and safe at this time. Thanks for your understanding and support during this difficult time. We hope to connect as a class community soon, even if it is virtually. Starfall Bridges Number Frames Bridges Geoboard SeeSaw Videos (reviewing, not posting) Hi Room 115!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Last week in literacy, we continued to work on long vowel blends, reading groups and writers workshop! We are working on telling true stories across the pages. We are looking at what happens in the beginning, middle and end. In math, we have been working on problem solving. We are thinking about different ways we can add and subtract and solve for a missing number. We are working on these problems within the range of 1-15! In science, we have been researching stars. We are reviewing what it means to ask and answer questions to learn more about what we are curious about. We will then take these answers and create own video about what we have learned. This week is very exciting with an author visit on Tuesday and our show this Wednesday at 6:30 pm! Reminders and more below! Important Information: 1. This Wednesday, the 11th, is our show at 6:30pm in the gym. Please make sure students dress nicely (shirts without writings or logos on them -- From Mrs. Sayers). Please make sure if you have not signed up already that you do so! I am looking forward to meeting with you and sharing the great successes that your students have made this year!
