Hi Room 115!!
I hope that you all had a wonderful winter break and Happy New Year! We are officially back in the swing of things and back into routine. Last week was an exciting transition back to school as we reviewed what it means to be a student, have growth mindset, and what goals we have for 2020 and the rest of kindergarten! In math we worked on subtraction bowling! This was fun because we combined what the students learned in PE and gave it a math twist. Students were able to physically see what subtraction means by taking away pins they knocked down and building subtraction problems. Students are learning how to write these equations and understanding how the story is told to look for missing addends and totals. This week we are going to continue working on subtraction along with starting our shape study unit. We will learn how to compare and contrast shapes, put them in categories and connect them to what we see everyday. In literacy, we began looking at different blends in words and the sounds that they make. We are beginning to really write and take the time to look at these different word families and listen to the sounds that make up words. We will also begin our writing unit of how to write a friendly letter, create sentences and more! Important Information 1. Hey Parents!Want to encourage independent reading for your child?
