This week we celebrated our class party of crazy sock day! We are now unto our next classroom celebration of 175 pom pons to continue onto our next celebration of hard work. We also had a great end of the week finishing up MAP testing! All students did an incredible job and I could not be more proud of their hard work and accomplishments! This week is back to a normal schedule with the exception of picture day this Wednesday, September 28. If you need a new order form to order photos you can pick one up from the office.
Looking forward to another great week! Congratulations to all of your students on a wonderful and successful week completing their very first round of MAP testing! They did an incredible job and I am so impressed with their hard work, persistence, and confidence within themselves to be successful on the math portion of the test. Next week will be our last test, reading.
This week was also exciting with Dot Day! Dot Day is about making your mark on the world and finding ways to inspire others. We read the books The Dot and Ish by Peter H. Reynolds. As a class we talked about what it means to make a mark on the world and what it means to be part of a community. As a class we discussed how one person can inspire and change someones thoughts, ideas and opinions on themselves and how together a team can do more than just one person alone. We discussed what it means to make our mark and how we hope to inspire those around us. We also have finally reached our class goal of 150 bucketfilling pom pons! On Monday we will celebrate our accomplishment of being bucketfillers, and hard workers with our crazy sock party! Our next goal is to receive 175 pom pons to wear a hat in class! We are continuing to work on our goals of being bucketfillers, respectful and responsible along with our own classroom guidelines we created. Thank you for all your support this week with our very first MAP test! Happy Dot Day!! Today was international Dot Day! What a way to celebrate after completing MAP testing! We discussed what it means to make our mark and how we hope to inspire those around us. Each student wrote about how they hope to leave a mark on the world, make their own dot that became part of our community of dots, as well as join the fifth grade classes and another second grade class to create an even larger community of dots.
If you want to read either of the books and learn more about Dot Day here are the links: The Dot Ish International Dot Day This week we begin MAP Testing! Please make sure that your student gets a well rested night of sleep and a full breakfast in the morning! Knowing that it is your students first exposure to MAP testing, I want you to know that this is about the test taking experience and learning how to take an online assessment. This assessment will also help to build data on your student that will help provide me with the knowledge of what levels they are at and where I can help continue their growth.

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend, we had a nice warm day in class. I know tomorrow will be just as hot, if your child would like to bring a water bottle, please do! Just wanted to give all of you an update on logins. Our Epic login needs to be completed as a class, so the students will finish creating their accounts tomorrow and then I will send them home! I apologize for the delay. With that being said, there are still plenty of links on our classroom website where the students to not need to have a login and password to use. Homework was sent out today as well. It will be due next Monday, and the students will receive their new homework sheet then. If for some reason the sheet has gone missing you can find it on our website under Curriculum Resources. When you hover over that icon the drop down menu for Literacy and Math show up, but when you actually click on the Curriculum Resource Tab you will find the link where you can print up the homework sheet. Finally, if you forget how to find our class website, it has been linked to my name under the staff page on the Braeside Website. All students have to do is click on my name to find it!
