Hi Room 115!
I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and are off to a good week! It is hard to believe how fast time has gone by and that we are coming down to the final countdown. Yesterday was our final book checkout! Please make sure that your student returns all of their by Tuesday May 28th. Otherwise, we are hard at work on many projects before the year is over. In math, we are still working on our math books. Students are creating math sentences, equations, ten frames and pictures to create different number of equations. Starting from 1-10, and even going into the teen numbers or even working by 10's to 100. Students are looking at different ways to combine numbers to come up with the same sum. In writing, students are getting ready for publishing. They have learned how to edit their writing and illustrations and now rewrite it to make a final product. Soon they will be creating a cover and getting ready for our writing celebration. In literacy we are looking at how words are made up and different reading strategies. We are continuing to look at patterns within words, sentences and illustrations to make sense of a story when we read by ourselves. In science and social studies we have been looking at plants. IN science we have been growing grass, learning how to make observations and the plant cycle. In social studies we are looking at where different plants grow and the different environments that they can live in. Reminders: 1. There is early release on Friday at 1 pm 2. There is no school on Monday the 27th 3. Books are due on Tuesday the 28th 4. Field Day is schedule for June 3rd As always, if there is any questions please do not hesitate to reach out!

Hi Room 115 Families!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend with this beautiful weather! This is a big week because we are officially doing our final spring MAP test. We will be doing this tomorrow and Wednesday morning. Please make sure your student has a big breakfast and if you would like to talk to them about having a growth mindset, taking their time and being proud of their work, please do! We reviewed in class today and talked about the importance of what it means to grow as a student. Our conversation was about the growth that they have had this year and remembering what we couldn't do at the beginning of the year and all of the success we have had now! If for some reason your student is late or not here this week, we will have time to make it up or finish at another time. It is not a problem at all!! The students are allowed to take as long as they want on it, there is no time limit. I know there is a month left of school, but I am already excited and proud of all the growth that your students have made this year. It has been so much fun working, learning and growing alongside all of them! Otherwise, this week we will continue to work on writing true stories. We have learned how to add speech bubbles and dialogue to our stories to help make them come to life. In literacy and science we have begun our plant research. We are learning how to do note taking and reading about plants in literacy. While in science, we will be growing grass soon and learning how to make observations and chart our data. In math we will be beginning our next project. We will be looking at different ways to add and subtract within 20. We will be using the book One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab as our inspiration in creating our own math addition books. I am looking forward to another great week! As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! |
