Hi Room 115 Families and Happy Thursday!
I hope that you are all doing well! I have had some emails with tech questions and I wanted to make sure you all knew the answer because I have a feeling that it will happen eventually! 1. Smores links: Almost all of the links on Smores is either a google link or a Youtube link. If for some reason your student is not accessing the link, there is a good chance that your student has been logged out of their gmail account. If that is the case just log them back in as if they were going to access their email and their links will work again. 2. Science: This is our first year with our new science curriculum. Its goal is to make science interactive and fun while following along with the videos at home. There is a science book that we just received and it will be going home with your student tomorrow! Be on the lookout for that book. Mrs. Walsh and I are also adding some of those science book pages to the SeeSaws for students to fill in as well. 3. The math link didn't work yesterday. That is more than okay! I have contacted the district and I am waiting on logins for the math program for your students. 4. For next week, I will be emailing home an attachment of a note taking paper for your students to use. I am letting you know now so that you can look for it and print it OR it will also be in the seesaw activity for them to figure out. But I did want to provide a paper pencil option for your student at home besides technology. Thank you for your partnership and patience as we continue to find the best way to make learning work at home for your students. I am so proud and impressed of how your students have already come in navigating their iPads and finding their different resources. Thank you for your help in making this possible at home! Please let me know if you have any other questions or need assistance!

Hi Room 115 Families!
It is hard to believe that we are going into our second full week of school and that your students will have been in kindergarten for a month by the end of the week! We had an incredible week of learning! Your students did a wonderful job of completing the MAP tests and learning how to use their device to take an assessment. We practiced using our iPads and exploring them in order to be successful with learning. In literacy, we continued to work on our letter recognition, using pictures to help us with understanding words in text, and our high frequency words of: I, am, the, little. In math, we continued to look at ways to add to 10 or 20 in our animal foot parades! Students learned how to make different combinations of adding to 10 or 20 using animal feet. This allowed them to practice 1:1 counting, different number combinations and doubling numbers. We also went on a couple of nature walks as a class to make connections to living and nonliving things that you have been working on at home. This week we are going to try a new way of pushing out work to your students for asynchronous learning. You will see in Otus and in SeeSaw a new link from smores with our daily work. The goal is to try to make at home learning a bit easier and more independent for your students to complete and follow.Your student will open up the link in Otus or on SeeSaw and there are pictures of all the work that they will need to do and everything is hyperlinked. So instead of having to click around or read your student their work, it is all located in one place for them to click. The smores link will stay open in your students safari web browser so when your student completes an assignment they just have to open up safari again and it will be there! I am hoping that this will be more successful and easier for your student to use. Please know that this is not replacing SeeSaw activities but just allowing your student to learn how to do their work on their own and be easier to follow. You will still need to go to SeeSaw activities but sometimes it will be linked with AM or PM section, other times you will just open SeeSaw activities and it will be there! Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope that it will be easier to navigate for all of you! Important Information 1. Be on the lookout for your first scholastic book order option in an email soon 2. SeeSaw: Please know that when your student does not need to send in work for a SeeSaw activity and it is something for them to listen to, there is no way to mark it as complete or delete it. Each week I update and remove those activities so they do not just sit in your queue. Those are great activities for your students to listen to or do if your child is looking for screen time and you want it to be educational! 3. No school Monday, September 28th for Yom Kippur I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend and I am excited for our second full week of school together! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out. |
