I hope that you are enjoying a wonderful weekend! It was so nice to see you all at the Winter Sing on Friday! The students did a fantastic job, and I am so proud of their hard work and preparation they did to be ready for their performance. Our class was very busy last week with rehearsals, estimation with measurement, comparing and contrasting fairy tales, studying rocks, and how to format a letter. We had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Prestinarios class to create a stories about respect and what they had learned from the songs they sang and music as well as from our Second Step program. I am excited to announce that this coming month, February, will be dedicated to the theme of love. The month of February is national friendship month the whole second grade is creating a cross-curricular unit where students will be studying the over arching theme of love and how it effects all that they do and is apart of their life. Starting with our theme in second grade of change and individuality, how does love play a role in what they do and how they feel and act. Some other examples of things they will be studying is how to love their community and world and why it is important to them. How love in literacy plays an important roles to the characters they learn about and how they can relate to it, and more! We are very excited to be sharing this across the whole second grade team and are looking forward to next month. All of second grade will be doing a big kickoff on Wednesday to celebrate it and bring in some other topics that the students would like to focus on as well this month. I am looking forward to the adventures that will come in the next month!
